I would first like to welcome old and new supporters to the VPG for our first match of the season against the oldest football club in the world, 150 years this year. All the best for the next 150 years, to Sheffield FC.

I would like to thank all our supporters over the past four years of my chairmanship, also to my Board of Directors and members of the Management Committee, without whose help, the club would not function.

I would also like to thank all the Businesses that have supported. Either through the purchase of advertising space in the Programme, the Purchase of Boards, all match day sponsors and ball sponsors thank you all for your contributions.

On to the new season the management have been busy recruiting new players whom I think will improve our squad, however we will see the proof in the making in our first home game.

Some of you will have seen my appeal in the local press for a major sponsor. I was aiming this appeal at the larger companies in the area but we did not get one response. It is obvious to me that these companies are taking their money from local Goole companies and spending elsewhere. I call this Smash and grab what do you think? Most of you are aware I am a passionate football Person and I promise you this. Goole AFC with progress will progress with or without the help of the companies.
